Getting to know the “Think Safe Work Safe” Program
What are the objectives of the “Think Safe Work Safe” program?
  1. To motivate safety consciousness of SCG’s employees and subcontractors, encouraging them to help reduce work-related accidents
  2. To encourage the company’s management to act as a role model dedicated to promoting work safety
  3. To make the commitment to safety a way of life for all employees not just safety personnel

What is the “Think Safe Work Safe” program?
Accidents result in enormous loss of life and property damage. The major causes of accidents are carelessness, or ignorance. However, they can be prevented if we put our minds to work and “Think safe work safe”.

What are the root causes of accidents?
Many accidents are caused by the workers being unaware of the dangers that may arise from work. There are many cases of workers with long years of experience who have lost their lives or become crippled because of work-related accidents, and casualties continue to occur. Don’t let yourself fall victim to the accident. Always think carefully before starting work. Remember that safety should always come first.
Activities in support of the “Think Safe Work Safe” program
  1. Internal promotional tools include banners, display stands, posters, stickers, letters from those who have suffered from accidents to every employee, intercoms, VCD: Hints & Tips, etc.
  2. The Monthly Safety Day features various activities:
    2.1    Managing Director gave an informal talk on the Monthly Safety Day
    2.2    Activities to enhance safety awareness, for example, games, quizzes, dhamma
              preaching on safety, etc.
    2.3    Three episodes of “Tueng Look Tueng Kon” VCD on the topic of loss incidents,
              near-misses, and safety role models

The Subcontractor Certificate System
 
Objectives:
  1. To develop and enhance the safety and environmental performance of SCG’s subcontractors
  2. To prevent and reduce incident rates of SCG’s subcontractors

Audit and Assessment Requirements:
  1. Safety policy
  2. Participatory involvement of subcontractors’ employees
  3. Structure and responsibility
  4. Knowledge, capabilities, and training
  5. Communication
  6. Safety objectives and an operational plan
  7. Hazard control and prevention
  8. Follow-up and operational assessment
  9. Investigation of accidents and near-misses
  10. Remedy and prevention
     
Scope of Subcontractor Performance Assessment:
Subcontractors for all job assignments except for gardening and office work are to be assessed. The assessment of tasks are prioritized according to risks associated with each task, service frequency, and the number of the subcontractor’s employees assigned to work for the company.

  5. Certification
