Learning & Development at SCG Chemicals
SCG Chemicals is committed to the ongoing learning of all employees. Our aim is to promote learning environments in order to become a world-class Learning Organization. Therefore, employees at all levels are encouraged to maximize their own learning opportunities through constant learning and application of a variety of learning tools offered. One can find traditional learning tools like classroom training, on-the-job training (OJT) or public training available, but you can also take your learning experience online with our e-Learning system.

In addition, Knowledge Management—the process of capturing, sharing, and leveraging a company’s collective expertise—is merging with our e-Learning system. After that, any knowledge dispersed and know-how will become easy to access. This can guarantee that we will never ever stop learning.

Human Resources Development Direction
At SCG Chemicals, we believe that human capital is the most important factor towards helping the business achieve its goals. As a result, we provide every employee with a continual developmental plan, driven by 4 objectives:
  1. Common Knowledge – basic knowledge that everyone in the company should know such as Total Quality Management (TQM), Total Productivity Management (TPM), ISO 9002, ISO 14000, among others.

  2. Individual Developmental Plan – the competency-based developmental procedure that pertains to employees’ personal and professional requirements.
2.1 English Skill Development (e.g., if one wants to improve one’s English competency)
SCG Chemicals subsidizes language training course expenses at accredited language institutions or on-site classroom training. In addition, e-learning programs and various developmental activities and resources are made available, such as an on-site English consultant, English Camp, and Weekly English online. These promotional activities are geared toward improving one’s English listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills.

  3. Role Development – consists of 3 parts:
    3.1 New Employee
SCG Chemicals requires every new employee to join the PCT program, focusing on 3 aspects of development including Physical Fit, Cultural Fit, and Talent Fit. This program takes 2 years, starting immediately once the employee joins the company.
    3.2 Mentor
When someone joins SCG Chemicals, they will have one experienced staff member as their mentor – someone to advise them in career related matters and to offer them insight. These mentors are well trained in understanding the roles of the mentor.
    3.3 Supervisor
They have to understand their roles and learn how to be a good leader and mentor at the same time. The company will provide programs that can help each employee to be better at these additional roles.

  4. Career Development – knowledge and skills preparation before employees move into new roles or are given higher responsibilities
4.1 C-ChEPS (Constructionism Chemical Engineering Practice School)
In partnership with King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT), SCG Chemicals has implemented C-ChEPS, a program geared towards educating employees with a vocational background, knowledge about Chemical Engineering. This program is based on Constructionism, a learner-centered learning theory concentrating on self-learning and practical knowledge.
    4.2 Management Skills Development
To enhance employees’ business knowledge, SCG Chemicals provides Management Developmental programs, including Production, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, to name a few. We classified these programs into 3 categories:
